Stacy Lynn McClellan, age 60, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born November 20, 1965, to Willie Hershel and Dorothy (Johnston) McClellan in Columbus, Georgia.
He was a 1983 Graduate of Kendrick High School in Columbus, Georgia and was an avid sportsman. After graduating from KHS, Stacy was awarded a scholarship to CVCC and played ball for many years for the school and other softball leagues in Columbus, Georgia. He was the manager at Nationwide Warehouse, District Manager for Bargain Furniture and was employed for numerous years with Wayne Evans Auction company. In time, he earned his commercial driver’s license and drove a truck for Joe Ryan Trucking Company.
He lived his life through simple pleasures, playing Texas Hold’em, golfing, going camping and spending time with his friends and family. His love of sports was uncanny. There was not a Notre Dame, Georgia Bulldogs or Atlanta Braves or Atlanta Falcons game that he would miss. If you knew Stacy, you knew those Fightin Irish were his favorite.
Aside from his father, his heroes were ESPN’s commentator Stuart Scott and Jim Valvano (North Carolina State coach) who were recipients of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Jim Valvano established the V Foundation for cancer research. Jimmy V’s motto was, Don’t Give up, Don’t Ever Give Up! And finally, his coach, Coach Bobby Howard, Columbus, Georgia.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen Hershel McClellan, Scott Maynard McClellan, his nephew, Richard Newell II (Ricky) and his Aunt Janell McClellan.
He is survived by his wife, Christi, his sister, Sheri McClellan Bailey, his Aunt Joan (Mitch) Howlett, his nieces, Amanda French, Kalynn McClellan Tabb and Lacey McClellan. His great niece Bailey Tabb, his great nephews Brysen and Bentley French, McArthur Kyle Logan (little Mack), Wesson Britt and numerous cousins and family members. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
If you so choose to, his charity of choice is The Tim Hudson Foundation based out of Auburn, Alabama which supports families in need in Alabama and Georgia.www.hudsonfamilyfoundation.com
