Stephanie Flavia Ruby

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Stephanie Flavia Ruby, of Monroe, GA passed away on October 22, 2025. She was 79. Stephanie was born on February 26, 1946, to Donald and Harriet Brown in Nyack, New York. She was the second of three children, joining an older brother, Steven, and a younger brother, Chris. She grew up in Oreland, PA. Stephanie graduated in 1964 from Springfield Township High School in Springfield, PA. During her first marriage, she had two children: Kristen and Tim. Once her children were older, Stephanie attended nursing school and graduated in 1984. She then began a long career as a registered nurse in mental healthcare.

On April 13, 1985, Stephanie married Paul J. Ruby. She was blessed with two stepsons, Hal and Peter Ruby. They would reside in Snellville, GA for many years.

One of Stephanie’s passions was her art. She discovered her artistic side in high school. One of her pictures won an award and was featured in an exhibit that traveled around the world. Her focus was on pastels. She created some extremely beautiful pieces. Over the last twenty-plus years, her art could be found in art shows, the local art guild and many homes of her friends and family.

In 1999, Stephanie and Paul moved to the Providence Club, a golfing community, in Monroe. A few years later, in 2004, she retired from nursing and was able to devote more time to her family, primarily her grandchildren and some of her hobbies. Stephanie absolutely loved being able to sit on her porch swing and read. She was a member of her neighborhood book club for many years. She had a close group of friends (Nancy, Kay, Jina and Kim), who she spent time with often and would always look forward to her lunches with the “ladies”. Stephanie enjoyed shopping and decorating her home, which was always welcoming and cozy.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Paul; children, Kristen (Erik) Lombard of Conyers, GA, Tim (Brandi) Vanderhoff of Statham, GA, Hal Ruby and Peter (Mary) Ruby of Virginia Beach, VA; her grandchildren, Emmeline Lombard (26), Maddie Lombard (22), Hudson (17) and Lawson (11) Vanderhoff, Kira Ruby (23), Jack Ruby (6) and Emma Ranhorn (21); her brothers, Steven (Vonnie) Brown and Chris (Diane) Brown, of Texas. Also surviving her are several nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephanie’s memory may be made to the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts Support what you love: local art or Reese’s Rescue Reese’s Rescues.

Memorial service plans will be shared shortly. Please contact Kristen at: kristenvlombard@gmail.com if you would like to receive notification via email.
