Mr. Stephen Frederick Crowell, age 79, formerly of Kennebunk Port, Maine, passed away November 11, 2021.
Mr. Crowell was born on October 18, 1942 to the late Frederick and Alice Crowell. He grew up in Cape Porpoise ME alongside two brothers. In 1961 he graduated from Kennebunk High School and shortly after moved to Boston where he worked for State Street Bank. He was wed to Judith Faye Teneriello and the couple welcomed one son and one daughter. Mr. Crowell took a position with Northeast Airlines in 1969. As Northeast Airlines merged with Delta in 1972, the Crowell family relocated to Georgia where Mr. Crowell continued his work in airline marketing. The family lived in Kennebunk once more for several years during which time Mr. Crowell retired from Delta Airlines after 32 years of service. Mr. Crowell and his wife opened an ice cream shop called Knot Just Cookies in downtown Kennebunkport. The Crowell family enjoyed working together serving ice cream and cookies to locals and travelers alike. Eventually Mr. and Mrs. Crowell moved to Hilton Head Island, SC to enjoy their retirement. In their final move, Mr. and Mrs. Crowell returned to Georgia to be closer to their daughter. Mr. Crowell’s beloved bride passed away in October of 2020.
Mr. Crowell was full of life with a sense of adventure. He loved to travel, which he did often. His airline career offered him the opportunity to visit amazing places around the world. Mr. Crowell would take his family along throughout the US, Asia, Europe and his favorite location, the Bahamas. Throughout his life, Mr. Crowell visited more than 20 countries. Along his way, he enjoyed local cultures and cuisines. Mr. Crowell loved to cook and considered himself a “foodie”. He enjoyed trying new recipes and watching cooking shows. Mr. Crowell will be remembered as a unique individual with a love for life and family.
Along with his parents, Mr. Crowell was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Judith Faye Crowell. He is survived by his son Stephen D. Crowell of Kennebunk, ME and daughter and son-in-law: Elizabeth and Henry Williams of Newnan, GA;; grandsons: Jarrid Crowell, Timothy Crowell and Hunter Williams; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jeffery and Anita Crowell of Summerville, SC and Peter and Laurie Crowell of Norton Shores, MI.
A memorial service will be held in Mr. Crowell’s honor in the spring of 2022 in Kennebunk, ME. The Crowell family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 1086 Hwy 54 West, Fayetteville. Messages of condolence may be left at www.GeorgiaCremation.com.
