Tameka Lasae Monger of Hampton, GA was born April 1, 1978, in Memphis, TN to Henry and Barbara Monger. On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, the final chapter of her life was written. She passed away at Piedmont Fayetteville Hospital. Tameka attended Whitehaven High School, where she was a member of the cheer, flag corps, volleyball, and softball teams. After graduating in May 1996, she began her career with FedEx. She held various positions in the customs clearance field throughout her 18-year career. At the age of 20, Tameka became a child advocate, serving as a foster parent for dozens of young adults in crisis. She specifically had a heart to serve teen girls, who were close to aging out of the system. She equipped them with life skills, taught them self-care, and prepared them to either attend college or enter the workforce after transitioning out of foster care. Tameka’s most important roles were mother and grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally. Tameka also enjoyed traveling, singing, cooking, telling a good story, and celebrating life through laughter.Tameka professed her belief in Christ at an early age at Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C in Memphis, TN. Upon moving to Georgia, she became a member of Gilead Christian Church.She was Proceeded in death by her father Henry Monger Jr., her mother Barbara Monger, her grandparents Richard Fifer Jr, Mary Fifer, Henry Monger Sr, Rosetta Monger, her aunts Dorothy Slater, Jean Cast, her uncles Jessie Fifer, Leon Fifer, Lestus Smith and Roan Smith. Tameka leaves to cherish precious memories: her daughter Mikaylah Monger (Lachavious), her son Deshaun Graham, her beloved canine companion Apollo Monger, her grandson Amir Simmons, her partner Kelvin White, her sister Bobbie Jones (DJ) her brothers Cornelius Monger, Cedric Hill-Monger, her niece Kierra Shotwell, her nephews Kelvin Shotwell, Martaveous Gunter, Xavier Monger, Hezekiah Monger, a host of bonus children, aunts & uncles, family & friends.
Funeral Services for Tameka will be held Saturday July 8, 2023 at 11: AM at Gilead Christian Church, 2195 Hwy 138 SW, Riverdale, Ga 30274. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service, in the chapel.
