Theresa Jo Zavala-Corona, age 54, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026. She was born in East Point, Georgia, on April 14th, 1971, to Joseph and Imogene (Nave) German. Theresa grew up alongside her parents, two brothers, and four sisters. She attended Russell High School in East Point, where she earned her high school diploma in 1989.
Theresa moved from East Point to Forrest Park before putting down roots in Jackson, Ga where she lived for the last 25 years. She spent her career employed with Waffle House and Huddle House, and for over 30 years, Theresa was a customer favorite.
She was of Christian faith, attending Rise Above Community Chapel and Joshua’s Place in Jackson, Ga. Theresa loved watching movies and had a special fondness for K-Dramas. She was also a big fan of the BTS Boy Band.
Theresa’s passion was her family, and she spent as much time as she could loving them. She was a wonderful friend and loved the time spent with her best friends, Dena and Jamey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Beto Zavala-Corona; her parents, Joseph and Imogene German; her brother, John German; and her sister, Deborah Magana. Theresa leaves behind to forever cherish her memory, her sisters: Johanna Lowery of Rex, Susan Oneal (David) of Sharpsburg, and Patricia Warsham ( Joe) of Jackson, her brother: Scott German (Christy) of Athens; seventeen nieces and nephews; and twenty-nine great nieces and nephews.
Theresa was loved by so many people, and though she never had any children of her own, she treated all of her cousins, nieces, and nephews like they were her very own children. She was always willing to help anyone in need, and you could count on her to be there no matter what. Theresa will be remembered as being the perfect example of love and loving others.
Plans for a memorial service are being made and will be announced at a later date. Contributions can be made to the family’s GoFundMe at “Support for Theresa’s Memorial and Funeral Costs” on Facebook.
