Trudy Louise Gomer, age 73, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023, surrounded by those she loved.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Joe Gomer of Franklin, KY, an infant sister, Gwendolyn, and her favorite grandmother, Nancy Buchanan.
Trudy had a deep love for life and a heart for serving. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. As a teacher and middle school counselor, Trudy spent 39 years in public schools. Her career began in Kentucky but she soon transitioned to Clayton County Schools where she spent the majority of her career. Trudy finished out her
outstanding career in Henry County Schools. Trudy was a member of several organizations even in retirement, among them the Henry and Clayton chapters of the Georgia Retired Educators Association as well as the state organization itself.
Trudy enjoyed working with all students; however, she felt a true calling toward those students who had special needs. Her proudest moments came when her students attained the goals on which she had helped them focus. Trudy personified a true determination to succeed which made her a role model for the students with whom she
worked.
Career preparation for Trudy included bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY, and a Specialist’s degree from West Georgia College (now University) in Carrollton, GA. To know Trudy was to also know that she enjoyed traveling as much and as often as possible. While she had a variety of traveling friends over the years, Carol was the one constant companion. Together, they made it to every continent except Antarctica. Pretty amazing for the little gal from Franklin, KY, indeed!
Trudy is survived by dearest friend, Carol Anderson; niece Alexis (Aisling) Anderson from Amsterdam; nephew Eric (Yoko) Anderson from Manila; great-nieces Tess and Mimi, and great-nephew Ethan. Special cousins in both the Buchanan and Gomer families were dear to Trudy’s heart. While her friends are too numerous to mention, they
know who they are and how much Trudy loved them all…..because she made sure of that!

Trudy was a delightful human being. She was a gifted and caring counselor. I will never forget our flight to DC for a conference and barely getting to land because of the snow blizzard that occurred.
Prayers for Carol and family!🙏🙏
