Wanda Jean Hammond passed away peacefully in Newnan, Georgia, on January 3, 2026.

Born on November 14, 1951, in Dillon, South Carolina, she spent most of her life working and raising her family in Florida, but always considered South Carolina her home.

Jean was an optimist, always assuming the best intentions of the people around her. She was a giver, taking joy in helping others. And she was kind, always ready with a quick smile and a friendly story. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, cooking, and reading. She loved all kinds of animals: cats, dogs, and was an avid bird-watcher from her windows.

Jean is survived by her children, Ron Wade, Julie Hiltz, and Sasha (the cat); her grandsons, Hunter Wade, Nicholas Hiltz, and Hayden Wade; her mother, Grace Hammond; and her siblings, Maxie Stone, Craig Hammond, and Terry Kuehl.

In place of flowers, her daughter requests you consider donating to your local Humane Society to honor her love of dogs and cats. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 9, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner.
