Wendy Bourton Mappus was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 6th 1968 to Josiane Martine Jeanne Bourton and the late Herman Mappus, Jr. Wendy went to be with her Lord, Jesus, unexpectedly on July 28th 2025. She leaves behind her biological family: siblings Corey (Chancy) Mappus and Troy Mappus, children Erica Bassett, Brandon (Abby) Basset and Courtney Basset. Wendy spent much of the last part of her life with her adopted family, the late Ola Louise Gravett (mom) and sisters Nora (Mike) Harman and Dixie Cooley.
Wendy lived in the West Ga area for most of her life. She worked at Honda Lock for many years until life events sent her to Peachtree City. While residing in Peachtree City, Wendy was able to pursue a career that fed her passion for Children and helping people. She received her Certification in Surgical Technology on July 25, 2019. Shortly thereafter, she joined the Labor and delivery department at Fayette Piedmont Hospital.
Wendy made friends wherever she went and left a lasting impression with many people who will miss her dearly. Goodbye Sunshine.
There will be a celebration of Life held at Peachtree City Christian Church, 500 Kedron Dr., Peachtree City Ga, 30269 on Saturday, August 23rd at 1pm. We ask that, in lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or an animal rescue of your choice in Wendy’s name to honor her.
