Doris Phipps was born December 15, 1945 on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, one of eight children. She lived in St. Kitts until the age of seventeen when she then moved to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. While in St. Croix, she served as a nanny at a young age. Earned her certificate in landscaping maintenance in 1989 from a joint venture of the Virgin Islands housing authority and the University extension service. In 1996, she moved to Columbus, Georgia. Ms. Doris was preceded in death by her grandmother,father, mother: Lillian Wigley, five siblings, and a grandson: Brandon Wigley.
Ms. Doris passed away at Columbus Hospice on Thursday, October 18, 2018.
She is survived by her five children who resides as follows: Joan Wigley of Brooklyn NY, Janice Wigley of St. Kitts, Antonio (Tikey) Nicholas and daughter in law Elbonita Nicholas of Ellerslie Ga, Eddie Joseph of St. Croix, and Laurel Martin of Columbus Ga; numerous grandchildren, including Antonio Nicholas, Jr. of Columbus Ga, Raydell Martin of Savannah Ga, Mikala Martin of Columbus Ga, Panache’ Nicholas of Ellerslie Ga and Britney Wigley of Brooklyn NY; and numerous great-grandchildren, including Charlie Powell.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Georgia Cremation in Columbus, GA with Apostle Robert and Cynthia Simmons of Rhema Word International officiating.

Losing a loved one can never be easy. My heart goes out to you and the family with this difficult loss. I lost my mother so I can express the sorrow, knowing you are bearing a loss. Phipps’s family just know that others care. Mrs. Doris was a lovely woman. Mrs. Doris will be missed.

Tony, Laurel and Pan we are so sorry for your loss. Tony & Laurel we loved your mom, she was such a joy. Ms. Doris always made us laugh she always had a joke with that big old smile . We are going to miss her. I know these are going to be some hard times, but please know God can and always will get you guys through all and anything thing.
