Lamar Evans Britt

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Lamar Evans Britt was born July 1, 1968 in Americus, Georgia to Gloria Cape Jacobs and Coley Britt. He was Baptist by faith and after high school, he was married soon after with a daughter on the way and not too many years later they welcomed a little boy into the world. His family and friends would consider him a workaholic often working seven days a week. When he was not working, he might be found rewatching reruns of his favorite television shows, MASH and the Andy Griffith Show. His family said he could quote lines verbatim. His beloved grandchildren were his world and he would spend every weekend he could with them and teaching them to hunt and fish.

Lamar Evans Britt, 51, of Pitts, Georgia passed away unexpectedly December 15, 2019. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Debra Forehand and Ricky Conselyea.

Survivors include his mother, Gloria (Billy) Jacobs; father, Coley (Myrtle) Britt; children, Samantha (John) Williams and Dustin (Skylar) Britt; beloved grandchildren, Garrett, Alex, Emilea, Gavin, Kaydence, Cayden, Ella, and Adrianna; siblings, Loria Hauesler and Lisa Lamb; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Seville Baptist Church, 159 Melba Street, Pitts, Georgia 31072.

The Britt family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 7500 Veterans Parkway, Suite A, Columbus, Georgia 31909, 706-577-0055. The family invites you to leave a condolence or share a fond memory of Mr. Britt below.

Pepaw was our anchor, he was true to his beliefs, and he wouldn’t hold a grudge, wise beyond his years and a great teacher of life through his own wisdom. Gone so soon with so much knowledge still to give. We love you and will forever appreciate all you have done for us over the years.
Rest easy Pepaw, we love you.
    Missing you like crazy!

We are so sorry for loss. I know there is nothing I can or do to make you feel better. The only thing that will help is God and time. And he will always be on your heart. I know Evan’s was a funny man. One night at Brandy and Ken house, it was New years eve. Evan’s had me laughing so much. We had a blast. I love you all.

In my memories with Evans, our teen years were the craziest most fun times of my life. Our time was always to short then, and again now. No matter how many miles always separated us, we were still close. I’m lucky we talked a few weeks ago and again shared some laughs. I don’t know how his family, that are much closer to him than I, will get through this. But I hope one day to see all the cousins and introduce another, my son, to everyone. Only Evens ever had the opportunity to meet Sidney. Oh, and I found this very funny, when he met my hyper spoiled little boy, he said ” You need to give him a spanking.” I laughed and said something smart right back. I loved he was so honest and kind. It is so hard to believe he is gone.
Sam, You are doing a awesome job taking care of everything and everyone, try to take care of yourself luv. If the babies (even grown ones, you-Dusty) need anything in Atlanta, please let me know. We are family.
Loria, Gloria, Hold on, I hope Robbie and I will see you this weekend.

This man was truly my brother! So many times I have gone to him for advice. He would give it! Even if I didn’t want to hear it. Our front porch talks will forever be burned in my memories. I told him along time ago that no matter what, I’d always consider him my family and would always love him. And I will. Until we meet again brother!

We went to the Elementary School together in Pitts and then to high school together. We lived not far apart. Sometimes we would get out and walk up and down the railroad tracks together or explore the woods around Pitts. I hadn’t seen him in years, however, I will always think of him with fondness and consider him my friend. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of my friend. I first met Mr. Britt at Tyson in 2014. He was honest, straight forward, and kind. I was a vendor asking for business, and he gave me a chance. We worked together there for a short time and then caught back up when he became the Refrigeration Manager at Koch in Pine Mountain. I remember the day I was told we had a new Refrigeration Manager. I was so worried that I was about to lose the business, as all new managers bring in their own vendors they like. When I walked into the office we made eye contact and caught up like we hadn’t missed a beat. We hugged, laughed and talked about old times, but immediately got to work, LOL. He was like that. He enjoyed the work he did and was very good at it. The best Refrigeration Manager I have ever had. I enjoyed our interactions every other week. He never treated me like a vendor, but more like a friend. We would talk on holidays, discuss hunting and fishing, talk about life, family, and although I never personally met his family, or his grand kids that he talked so much about, I feel like I know them. I am in complete shock. I don’t know what I will do tomorrow when I go into the plant. You will be missed my friend! Rest Easy.
