Mrs. Margaret Welborn Espy, age 70 of Duluth, Georgia went to her new home in Heaven on December 6, 2022.
Margaret was born in Augusta, Georgia on December 26, 1951, to the late Oscar and Hugh Margaret Welborn. She leaves behind her two daughters, Kathryn Bacalis, and her husband Perry Bacalis, and their three children, Nico, Cecilia, and Lenny; and Michelle Wine and her four children, Averie, Asher, Eliana, and Oliver; and her husband, David L. Espy.
After graduating from Randolph–Macon College in Virginia, she taught foreign languages in junior high schools in and around Charlotte, North Carolina for many years. In 2003 she moved to Duluth, Georgia, and switched from teaching to corporate sales. She was very proud of her sales success as the top salesperson for a small automotive company for seventeen years because she overcame many obstacles to achieve that title. She was a leader in many Christian groups she participated in because she always knew the purpose of her life and what needed to be accomplished.
Her life was a true testimony to her Christian Faith in God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. She had an amazing impact on her family, friends, and anyone else she met during her journey in this life. Her wonderful laugh was contagious and delighted all who knew her and appreciated her strong and powerful personality. She had a unique ability to love others in a way that encouraged them to face whatever struggle they faced with truth, perseverance, and determination. As an avid reader, her library was full of books, and she always had a story to share with others to help them smile. Rarely would a week go by that she didn’t have fresh flowers in her home that accompanied her many house plants?
We know Margaret is looking down from heaven sending us words of encouragement. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service for Margaret will be held at a later time.

My heart goes out to you all. I worked with Margaret for a while and got to know her very well.
Margaret loved each her family very much. She wanted each of you to know and love Jesus as much as she did.
She was such an inspiration to so many people.
Margaret is at home now with Jesus. She is healed and whole and waiting to see each of you, her family in heaven someday.

It has been a blessing getting to know Margaret so much more these past few years. Todd and I enjoyed spending time with both, her and David. She was a mighty woman of God, and her boldness of faith encouraged and inspired my own walk with the Lord. Spending time with her recently sharing the Word together in her living room blessed me so much. The sound of her laughter has always been contagious. I will miss her so much, but I rejoice she is with Jesus.

Thanks you David for sharing these moments with us. Although Margaret’s passing on is bittersweet, we look forward with her for a moment. She was invited to go behind the veil, to meet the object of all of our affection. That which was blurry and a far off is now see clearly and experienced. She was an outstanding example of Love in this world. It seemed to radiate from her smile. She is an example to all that it is possible, to finish our own race and win the prize. You and the family will be in our prayers as we endeavor together.

Margaret was an amazing person. Her smile like her laughter was infectious. She never met a stranger. She taught me so much and pushed me to trust God and know that everything was going to work out in His plan. She got me out of my shell and helped me to utilize the gifts that God gave me. I will always remember those sparkling blue eyes and that beautiful smile.

Margaret . . . you have long been a treasure to me and my husband, Jim. Several years ago, we bonded well over a profound dream the Lord gave to me regarding you and your future husband, David. The two of you together have been such a vibrant testimony of answered prayers and strong faith. Your devotion to one another truly has been a God-thing!!! I so regret that we haven’t gotten together lately due to life’s issues, but you impacted my spiritual life in a unique way. Your joy was infectious and your faith even moreso. I shall always hold you dear to my heart and know that we’ll all catch up one day in Glory. Jim sends his love too!!!
Maranatha, my precious sister.

Ms Margaret, I met you at one of my most vulnerable times of my life. You dedicated your free time to come volunteer at the residential program I was at. You helped me build my relationship with the Lord and helped me learn that I was worthy of love. You will be truly missed. I remember the very first night you came to the program. At the end of our bible study you prayed over me and started speaking tongues. I thought you were crazyyyy. Your prayers were special Ms Margret and he is doing amazing things in mine and my children’s lives today. I love you GOD Bless you and we shall meet again.

Margaret was a special kind of leader. It was as if everywhere she went, that was where she was meant to be. Sweet and compassionate with a spiritual confidence that can only come from a very strong connection to the Holy Spirit. I always felt she had one foot in this world and one foot in God’s Kingdom.
But she knew how to have fun in this world too and at our heart retreats she could flip from a serious prophecy for someone whose heart was broke, to laughing over something silly. Perhaps Margaret was so in touch with God because her heart had had some challenges in life. As God draws near to the broken-hearted so did Margaret model His ways. Her prophetic gift was so strong that women who received a prophecy from her still recall the exact words. And what a beautiful love she had with God who graced her with a love of a lifetime with David wrapped into her last seven years.
Margaret ended well in so many ways. She will be missed but the model of how to live well and finish well will stay with us until we join her.

I loved Margaret. She and I have been neighbors since she moved right across the driveway from me into her home on Blackshear Court. I watched her raising her daughters as a single mom. She was so thankful for the women you have become, Kathryn and Michelle, and she talked to me a lot about your accomplishments. She loved you to the moon and back. Margaret’s smile and her laugh were contagious. The thing I loved the most about Margaret was that she loved the Lord like I did. I am much shier than Margaret was though. I loved that she was not afraid to share Jesus with everyone she knew, and she absolutely did that. Margaret prayed with me many times when I struggled with my job from the time I first met her until I semi -retired in 2015. She always made time for me. She, our neighbor Beth who preceded her in death, and I did Bible study together for 3 years. I know she and Beth are rejoicing in heaven together today. When she was single, she, her roommate Linda, and I would go to movies together. She and Linda also would invite me over for meals. When Margaret met David, I knew he was the one for her. Margaret was so happy after she married David. She loved you so much, David. My boyfriend Herman and I went out to eat with her and David, and we played cards with them. We have enjoyed our friendship together as couples. I will never forget Margaret as long as I live, and when I get to heaven, I will be looking for her!

Too many memories to share but I’ll start with this. I use the feel like an outcast until I met Margaret. However, I no longer felt misunderstood when she entered my life. So many conversations was shared. She was a true representation of God’s love, faithfulness and support.
Margaret then met David and got married. That’s when the real fun began! I met my husband not to long after. They gave us premarital counseling.. they even got ordained for our wedding! Margaret believe in us and challenged us to grow. Her and David celebrated many milestones in our lives. We are forever greatful for their time, support, love, patience, gifts, prayers and obedience to Christ. Margaret will be forever missed. I’m fortunate enough to have been so close to her for nearly seven years. She called me her Cub and she was my Mama Bear. The teaching will be passed down to our future children, grandchildren and anyone else willing to listen.
P.S. she made the best homemade cookies.

Thank you Mr. David for always keeping me updated on her health and wellbeing. I only had the pleasure of meeting Margaret just once before her passing and I could tell she was a sweet, caring lady. I got to know her little by little through you and all your wonderful conversations about Margaret. You are such a devoted husband and said nothing but how Margaret amazed you everyday. I admire your love for her and will carry the wisdom with me throughout my life.

Margaret was always pouring into others. She really cares and saw people. She had an amazing laugh which would brighten up and room she was in. She was a special lady and she will be missed!
Artalina and Philippe Lecoin says
As people have mentioned, Margaret has this unique laugh that reverberates through the room just like Philippe’s (my husband) laugh so when both of them are in the same room and laugh, both David and I have to put on our brave faces :). Margaret is a spirited lady, with a heart of gold when it comes to ministry and helping people in-need, especially with battered women. She moves prophetically with other gifts and has blessed many people including my own daughter. Her ministry with David in Healing and Deliverance has borne tangible fruits. She has put up a brave and good fight in the enemy’s camp that leave a permanent footprint. All her good work for God’s Kingdom continues to manifest, not only in the USA but also Internationally. Margaret is a long-time dear friend and will always be remembered.
