Billie June Rohan, age 91, passed from this life on November 8, 2024. Billie was born in Waelder, Texas to Benjamin Nitschmann and Bessie Halliburton. She grew up and spent most of her life in Victoria, Texas.
Billie attended public schools in Victoria, Texas, graduating from Patty Welder High School. She would go on to meet the love of her life, Norman Rohan at a country dance in Inez, Texas. The couple married in 1950 and spent 58 wonderful years together.When Billie and Norman first married, they moved into an apartment on Hummel Street in Victoria, Texas. She lived there while Norman spent time in the army posted in Germany. When Norman was discharged, he and his brothers built the family home in Victoria where Billie and Norman lived for most of their lives.
Billie spent 89 wonderful years living in Victoria, Texas. She worked in banking most of her life. She was working at Wells Fargo Bank in Victoria when she retired. Billie was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Victoria, Texas. She loved spending time singing in the church choir. Billie spent most of her life raising and caring for her children. She would spend her free time reading and watching current news events on TV. She loved cooking for her family.
As a mother and grandmother, she was loving, caring, and compassionate. She had such pride in her family. One of Billie’s greatest passions was caring for and helping others. Billie was a true friend to many, offering support, understanding, and companionship without hesitation.
In 2022, she moved to Newnan, Georgia to be close to her oldest son Carter, and his wife Jane. Billie spent the last few years of her life living in Monarch House assisted living facility in Newnan, Georgia. She enjoyed the activities of arts and crafts, Zumba exercise classes, field trips, prayer groups, parties, and social gatherings. The Monarch House staff were all compassionate and caring and provided Billie with an amazing quality of life in her last few years of life. We will always remember her as a compassionate soul who put the needs of others before her own. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; Benjamin Roy Nitschmann and Bessie Halliburton Zahradnick, her husband; Norman E. Rohan, her sisters; Margie Cummings and Jessie Lee Pryor, and her son; Randy Rohan. Billie is survived by her children; Carter Rohan (Jane), Sherry Rohan and Lance Rohan, 6 grandchildren; Norman Guillory (Autumn), Jonathan Rohan (Teresa), Rebekah May (Stephen), Jessica Guillory, Allison Yost (Cory), Tamara Guillory, 6 great-grandchildren; Lilith and James, Marceline and Rosalyn, Cole and Luke.
The family is so appreciative of the love and care provided to Billie by her daughter, Sherry in her final years in her home in Victoria and would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of Monarch House and to Guiding Light Hospice for their extraordinary love and care for Billie for the remaining years of her life.
Billie loved her church community at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and the family would be honored if any memorial contributions are given to the church- Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 106 N, De Leon Street, Victoria, Texas 77901. A memorial service and burial will be in Victoria, Texas in June 2025.
