Andrew Allen Bosworth, age 53, of Riverdale, GA died with family by his side, on July 14, 2024 at Brightmoor Hospice House in Griffin, GA after a courageous 2-year battle against cancer. He was born at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, MI on Palm Sunday, April 4, 1971. Andrew grew up in Grand Ledge, MI and graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1989.
He played clarinet in the school orchestra and saxophone in the marching band. He was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and ride-along program with the Grand Ledge Police. He was active in Fire Cadets and the Michigan State Police Explorer Post volunteering with Project Bear CB to help motorists. He was baptized and confirmed with Grand Ledge First Congregational Church. Grand Ledge was a wonderful place to grow up because of extended family and time spent riding his bicycle and walking the river trail. He also spent memorable times at his Grandparents Bosworth farm in Sunfield. There were many summer adventures with family of traveling, camping, canoeing, backpacking, and time spent on the beaches of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior.
He loved growing up with his beagle Daisy Mae. A favorite memory was attending WrestleMania III in 1987 at the Silverdome in Pontiac MI. His favorites were there, including Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, and Andre the Giant. Andrew was always independent and booked himself a train ticket, and tickets for Madison Square Garden to see Simon and Garfunkel. After graduation he attended Lake Superior State University for a short time, but decided he was not ready for that commitment. He went back to college at a later time and earned his Associate Degree from Lansing Community College, and his Bachelor’s Degree from Sienna Heights University.
From the time that he earned his driver’s license, driving became his passion. He worked for Yellow Cab in Lansing, drove limo, delivered pizza and flowers. He decided to move out to Las Vegas in 2002 and took his cat Sebastian with him. While there, he worked in customer service at a number of mail order companies
as well as delivery.
He moved back near Michigan family in 2007 as he changed career after attaining his CDL and began working as a contract driver to drive straight truck as an expeditor across the country. Companies included Panther and other companies contracted with Fed Ex including Landstar. He attained and maintained several specialty certificates and credentials. He drove within all states except Alaska and Hawaii. His companions on the road were his two chihuahuas Cloe and Mia. During that time, he also decided to become a driver/owner and purchased a delivery van. His driver owned venture ended when he was hit head-on by a drunk driver who was traveling on wrong side of the I-94 freeway near Chicago. After he began driving, we said that God was surrounding him with angels as he survived many harrowing driving incidents including truck fire in Death Valley, and losing his brakes and going off a cliff between Nevada and California. His truck was home as he spent days on the road and several days stuck somewhere waiting for the next assignment.
Family memories were important to Andrew and he accumulated many of his childhood possessions and other memorabilia. His favorite song growing up was John Denver “Sunshine on My Shoulder” which he played over and over during his many stays at the home of his Grandma Briggs. His favorite tv shows or heroes were Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, Six Million Dollar Man, CHIPS, Knightrider, SpiderMan, Superman, and Star Trek. He was definitely a Trekker.
Andrew also wanted roots and a place to stay when not on the road. This finally happened after he met Angel, purchased a mobile home, and made Riverdale, Georgia his home. When Andrew was first diagnosed with squamous anal cancer following a colonoscopy in 2022 he had surgery, chemo, and radiation and kept driving in between treatments. In 2023 he learned cancer had metastasized to the liver and in July 2023 he underwent surgery to remove parts of his liver and portion of his stomach. The surgeon said that all of the margins were clear. Andrew returned to driving after a short recovery period. Unfortunately, he began experiencing infections resulting in several hospitalizations and rounds of treatment with antibiotics. In February 2024, a scan showed that the cancer had metastasized to the peritoneum. His oncologist at Piedmont had begun having Andrew receive immunotherapy to build up his immune system. He was referred to Emory University Cancer Center in Atlanta and Vanderbilt University in Nashville because of the type of cancer.
Unfortunately, his body had become too weakened and infections and sepsis kept occurring. On June 29 he went to Piedmont Hospital for a blood transfusion and was admitted because of new infection throughout his system. After consultation with doctors, it was determined that there was no cure and that prognosis was poor. It was recommended that he be transferred to hospice care, and on July 9 he was transferred to Brightmoor Hospice House. Andrew fought through many challenges, and hoped to have more life. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives. Andrew grew closer in his faith during the past few years and knew his name was written in the Book of Life because he trusted Christ and his salvation. He was assured that we will meet again, and that he would be greeted into Paradise by angels and family who had arrived before him.
He is survived by his parents in Michigan: Allen Bosworth, Margery Briggs (Michael Judd); and his loving spouse Angel Cordova Jimenez whom he married on July 8, 2015 and who provided compassionate care throughout Andrew’s illness. Also, 4 chihuahuas: Cloe, Mia, Princess, Angela. Other survivors include his Aunt Julie (Jim) Vedder and many close cousins in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Also, his sister-in-law Margarita Cordova Jimenez, and Enrique Quijano Pena.
Contributions in Andrew’s name may be made to the charity of your choice. His cremains are being brought back to Michigan for internment at a later date.
The Bosworth family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation – Fayetteville.

Dearest One,
Life handed you so many challenges that you stomped on, threw back at the sender as returning bombs, or that you ran around. I wish I had been more patient with you and your personality quirks so that I would have been there til the end after our almost 40 year friendship. Rest in peace now, your struggles have ended.
Love always,
