Audrey Marian Hutlas, 90, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at home in the company of her family.
She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Archibald and Margaret Shaefer on September 24, 1927. She graduated from Edison High School in Miami, Florida. Audrey married the love of her life, Bernard (Bernie) Hutlas, on January 29, 1955 in Miami. She worked for Eastern Airlines in the Flight Operations Department and at Chaminade-Madonna High School assisting in the library and guidance counselor’s office.
Throughout her life she accomplished much: an active member of PTC Christ Our Shepherd and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hollywood, Florida, participated in many book clubs and Bible studies, a Cub Scout Den Mother for her sons, President of the Broward Business Professional Women’s Foundation, and member of the Red Hatters. Above all, her most cherished past times were traveling the world with her husband and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law, Marie.
Audrey is survived by her sons, Eric and Brett Hutlas, her brother Alton Shaefer, and her granddaughters, Erica and Danielle Hutlas.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Christ our Shepherd Church in Peachtree City with Pastor Miriam Beecher officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
Mel Overton says
I never knew Mrs. Hutlas, but I know of her by seeing the love of her sons who so sincerely cared for her in her last years. It is my hope and prayer that her family can take some solace in now knowing her pain and sickness is gone forever.
