Charles “Chuck” Edward Thompson Jr.

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Charles “Chuck” Edward Thompson Jr. was born January 31st, 1954 and lost his battle with cancer at West Georgia Hospice on July 6th, 2019

Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, he graduated from Thornridge High School and received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois. He was a successful plant manager and worldwide manufacturing consultant, even working in the Sahara Desert in 2012. Chuck was of Viking descent and he loved studying their history.  He was an avid motorcyclist, traveling cross country on several occasions. “Chuckles”, as his family lovingly called him, was a true friend. He helped many people over the course of his life and donated to several charities. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles Sr. and Geraldine; his son Charlie and brother Tommy.

He is survived by his Love Paula Hawkins, beautiful daughter Christine (Joe) Maynard; loving son Craig (Courtney) Thompson; Bonus sons John (Erin) Hawkins; Brad (Shanna) Hawkins.  Ten precious grandchildren; his sister Sharon (Glenn) Seidel and several nieces and nephews.

Chuck wished to be cremated and his ashes to be buried with “Pauly” his soulmate. The family would like to thank West Georgia Hospice for their loving care and tireless support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at “Camp Thom-a-Hawk”, their home on West Point Lake in LaGrange, at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s or to West Georgia Hospice.

The family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 7500 Veterans parkway, Suite A, Columbus, Georgia 31909, 706-577-0055. The family invites you to leave a condolence or share a fond memory of Chuck below.

When an angel goes to heaven, he is given the task of looking over several people still here. His job is to make sure they are safe and secure. He whispers in the ear of his human to let them know God is always there for them. Chuck is one of those blessed with this gift from God. I know he will always be there to look over you and wait until you arrive to live eternally with him. May God bless you Paula and look over you forever. Love you and Chuck.

We were shocked to hear about Chuck’s passing. We knew him when he was the plant manager here in Momence, Illinois. Chuck and his wife Carol, and my husband Mike and I spent a lot of time together. We spent many weekend’s in Watseka at their beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright home. When they moved to Tennessee, we visited them there. We also went to visit them in Michigan. When Charlie died, we were devastated. And now Chuck is gone. No one told us he had cancer. I guess we lost track of Chuck somewhere along the line.
