June 29, 1950 — June 5, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Hendrix Glisson, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Donna departed this world on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her daughter . She was born on June 29, 1950, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Donald Hendrix and Versia Ross Hendrix.

Donna spent her early years in Columbus, where she attended Jordan High School, graduating with the class of 1968. Known for her academic excellence, she was a proud member of the honor roll, setting the foundation for a life marked by dedication and perseverance.

In 1970, Donna married the love of her life, Don W. Glisson, with whom she shared a joyful partnership until his passing in 2008. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two wonderful children, Shelley Glisson (Ola) and Adam W. Glisson, who carry forward their mother’s legacy of kindness and resilience.

Donna’s professional life was spent at AFLAC, where she dedicated 30 years of service, retiring as a respected supervisor. Her colleagues remember her as a steadfast leader and a source of encouragement and support. Her work ethic and dedication earned her the admiration of her peers and the deep respect of those she mentored.

A woman of faith, Donna was an active member of Oates Avenue Baptist Church for many years before the congregation merged with Belalwood Baptist Church. Her commitment to her faith.

Donna was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan, whose passion for football was infectious. Fall weekends were reserved for cheering on her beloved team, and she was known to end every phone call during the season with a hearty “GO DAWGS!” Her enthusiasm for the game brought joy and camaraderie to her family and friends, creating treasured memories that will endure.

She is survived by her beloved children, Shelley and Adam, who were her pride and joy; her nieces Laura Howard (Frankie) and Dana Lingo, who held a special place in her heart; and a wide circle of friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Donna was predeceased by her mother, Versia Hendrix, her husband, Don W. Glisson, and her sister, Mary Beth Lingo, with whom she is now reunited.

Donna will be remembered as a beacon of warmth and compassion; a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of simple pleasures. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched and the memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on those around her at a later date.

Rest in peace, dear Donna. Your spirit will live on in our hearts, and your memory will forever be a blessing.
