Frank ‘Kellyman’ Kelly entered eternal rest on December 29th 2024 at the age of 92, but in his words, ‘he looked pretty good for a young man.’ Frank Kelly was a long time resident of Newnan Georgia where he lived on a small farm that he loved and cherished up until his last days.
Being in the country was a place he was most content, growing and cooking his own food, in lard of course, quality unmatched. Born and raised in Augusta Georgia by parents Mattie Nelson, and Frank Kelly Sr. Augusta was a very fitting place for Frank to grow up. He loved golf and played the Master’s course and tournaments countless times, to which he won an amateur tournament that he was surprisingly humble about.
Frank was a long-time manager of the Atlanta Journal Constitution for over 25 years. He had a strength and tenacity that was unmatched. Preceded in death by wife: Betty Jean Belle; son: Steven Wesley Kelly; and longtime partner: Mary Moran. Survived by daughter: Gail Kelly Flanagan of Augusta; granddaughters: Kelcey Flanagan and Lauren Flanagan Oswald; and grandchildren: Skye and Wolfie Flanagan Oswald. Frank will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Amy Collins says
Frank was such a delightful human. I only had the opportunity to meet him in person once but I’ll never forget him. He was sweet and little flirty and might’ve made me blush.
