Jean Stafford Willums was born July 13, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Virginia Cora Waterfield Stafford and William A. Stafford. Ms. Willums was an educator at heart having retired from the Muscogee County Board of Education. During her career, she taught at Carver High School in Columbus in addition to a few schools in Alabama. Ms. Willums passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, Georgia.
Ms. Willums is preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Andy Willums of Valrico, Florida and Chris Willums of Phenix City, Alabama; brother, Dr. William Stafford of Dade City, Florida; and grandsons, Andrew Willums and Matthew Willums.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

I worked with Ms. Willums for years at Carver High School. She was a very caring teacher who helped the students and their families in times of need. I went to visit her two weeks ago at Gentiva, I had not seen her in years. We had a wonderful conversation which I will remember always.
