Jerry Waltermire

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Jerry Waltermire, 79, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 18, 1946, in Anderson, Indiana, to Earl “Punk” and Annabelle Waltermire, Jerry spent 20 years in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and his final 3 years in Fayetteville, Georgia.

A proud graduate of Frankton High School, Class of 1964, Jerry dedicated 55 years of his career to the corrugated packaging industry, retiring as a respected professional known for his strong work ethic and warm sense of humor. His commitment to his craft and camaraderie with colleagues left a lasting impact on the industry and those who worked alongside him.

An avid sports fan, Jerry was a passionate supporter of Notre Dame football and Indiana Hoosiers basketball, rarely missing a game. He found great joy on the water, boating and fishing on local lakes, and on the fairways, playing golf with friends and family. His love for these pursuits was matched only by his devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless stories and adventures.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Linda L. Waltermire, his son, Jamie Waltermire, and daughter-in-law, Kittie Waltermire, all of Fayetteville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Christian, and Kailey; his brothers, Don (Linda) Waltermire and Larry (Marsha) Waltermire; his sister-in-law, Sharon Waltermire; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl “Punk” and Annabelle Waltermire; his son, Jason Waltermire; his daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Waltermire; his brother-in-law, Timothy Bradberry; and his siblings, Joann Waltermire, Joyce Trennepohl, Roger “Butch” Waltermire, Gene Waltermire, and Doug “Jim” Waltermire.

Jerry’s kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and community will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.

Following a private cremation, a celebration of Jerry Waltermire’s life will be held at a later date, which will be announced.

In memory of Jerry Waltermire, please consider making a donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hosipital in place of flowers.  https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR?px=8864590&fr_id=154020&pg=
