Jimmy Lee Jones, 56, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2017 at Columbus Hospice.
Our beloved brother Jimmy Lee Jones was born in Phenix City, Alabama on July 24, 1960. He was the second of six children born to the union of Mr. Willie C. Jones and Ms. Betty J. Mark.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Central Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama with Rev. Jim Caldwell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Jimmy Jones accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior by joining the Saint James A.M.E. Church family in 1980. He later met his beloved Jacqueline Posey and joined the Central Baptist Church in Alabama, where he continued to be a faithful member. Mr. Jones will be remembered as a man of the community, always putting smiles on the faces of those around him. Many will remember Jimmy as “the life of the party,” but also an easy going, warm-hearted, loving man. He had many hobbies in life, but football was a passion. He was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football program and could be heard cheering “Roll Tide” on any fallSaturday. Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his mother and father.
He leaves to cherish in his memory a loving partner of thirty years, Jacqueline Posey of Phenix City, Alabama; step-son, Richard H. Posey; siblings, Willie (Phyllis) Jones of Florida, Milton (Veronica) Jones of Georgia, Betty (Kenneth) Hopson of Georgia, Lisa (Kenneth Steward) Harris of Georgia, and Angelline Daniel of Georgia; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
