Julia (Julie) Ann Delecki, age 75, passed away in her home in Lilburn, Georgia on April 24, 2018. Julie fought a short battle with lung cancer. She previously was a long time resident of Flushing, Michigan before moving to Georgia in 2014.
Julie was born to John and Genevieve (Jenny) Delecki on May 8, 1942. Julie was the baby of 10 children. She worked at Roma’s Pizzeria where she met the love of her life Giuseppe Maraldo. Later she worked at Elms Road Grocery and Stacy’s Restaurant until she retired.
Julie was a great cook and loved to cook for her family and friends to show them how much she loved them. She was often referred to as Gramma the Chicken Lady! Julie loved all children and babies and would always stop whatever she was doing to smile, wave and talk to babies. Julie had many nicknames including Julie, Grams and Aunt Sue.
Julie was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Cousin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings John Slagor, Edward Slagor, Stella (Slagor) Fyke, Mary (Slagor) Petrove, Fran (Delecki) Wojtysiak, Paul Delecki, Don Delecki and Frank Delecki.
Julie is survived by her beloved daughter, Andrea (Delecki) Maxey and son-in-law, Frank Maxey; grandchildren, Joseph Derra, Melissa (Rich) Rawlings, Diana (Dee) Scott and Diana Maxey; six great-grandchildren, Michael Derra, Mason Derra, Hudson Rawlings, Julia Scott, Joseph C. Derra and Reese Rawlings; and her brother James (Marcella) Delecki.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Georgia and Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julie’s name to St. Jude’s Hospital .
