February 13, 1954 – June 7, 2026
Kathryn “Kathy” Ione Randall, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Duluth, Georgia, on June 7, 2026.
Kathy was born on February 13, 1954, in Talking Rock, Georgia, to Hoyle and Margaret Mulkey. Though she would spend most of her life in Duluth, Talking Rock always held a special place in her heart, and she carried her small-town roots with her wherever she went.
She graduated from South Cobb High School in 1972 and, in 1973, met the love of her life, David Randall. The two were married in 1974, beginning a union that would span 52 years. Shortly after their wedding, they settled in Duluth, which Kathy would proudly call home for the rest of her life.
Kathy worked for the Georgia Department of Labor before stepping into the role she was truly born for — motherhood. In 1975, she became a full-time mom, and her three sons, Bryan, Travis, and Andrew, became the absolute joy of her life. For many years, Kathy was a familiar and beloved fixture at Shorty Howell Park or a nearby gym, cheering on her boys through countless basketball, baseball and football seasons. Everyone knew Kathy, and Kathy knew everyone.
Later in life, Kathy was blessed with what may have been her greatest title of all: Mimi. She adored her four grandchildren — Julia, Mary Kate, Willy, and Wesley — and poured herself into the role with endless love. Whether it was babysitting, hosting sleepovers, or simply being there whenever she was needed, Mimi was always ready. Her grandchildren brought her boundless happiness, and she made sure they knew just how loved they were.
Grounded in her deep faith in God, Kathy lived a life rich with love, kindness, and connection. She had a special gift for keeping in touch with extended family near and far, and she nurtured those relationships with care throughout her life. She found joy in the simple, beautiful things — her animals, her flowers, her photography, good music, and a good book — but nothing brought her greater happiness than the people she loved.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyle and Margaret Mulkey, and her brothers, Timothy Mulkey and Stephen Mulkey.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, David Randall; her sons, Bryan (Belinda) Randall, Travis (Caroline) Randall, and Andrew (Lori) Randall; and her four beloved grandchildren, Julia, Mary Kate, Willy, and Wesley.
Per Kathy’s wishes, there will be no public memorial service. She will be celebrated and remembered by her close family in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Kathy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Kathy’s warmth, devotion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
