MARIA LOURDES (RAMOLETE) FERNANDEZ
May 2, 1941 – May 10, 2020 (age 79)
On Sunday, May 10, 2020, Lulu Fernandez of Lawrenceville, GA, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away of complications from COVID-19 at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Modesto Ramolete and Mrs. Nicolasa Loquillano Ramolete; sister Josefina Finita Revillame (Carlos); and husband Eduardo Fernandez.Left to mourn her loss are her four children, Eduardo “Dindo” Fernandez (Lynette), Liza Banguilan (Tony), Luisa “Malu” Fernandez, Emilito “Ito” Fernandez; sister, Atty. Rosalinda Tablante; brother, Ramon “Chito” Ramolete (Rita); grandsons, Zachary, Tristan, and Dylan; and a host of nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Lulu completed her college education at Colegío de San Juan de Letran in Manila, Philippines and at the Universidad Central de Madrid in Spain. She was a Spanish professor at Feati University in Manila before emigrating to the United States in 1979. In Atlanta, she was a case manager for Travelers Insurance prior to her retirement.
Having lived in Madrid, Spain, Lulu was fluent in Spanish. She was heavily involved in the Hispanic community in Atlanta, engaging in civic and cultural events. She served as the Music Director for the adult and youth Spanish choir at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She devoted her life in the service of the Catholic Church.
Lulu loved to bake pastries, cakes, and desserts, which were enjoyed by her family and friends. She was always requested to bring her famous homemade cassava cake to parties and special occasions. She was a talented piano and guitar player and taught children in her free time. She volunteered regularly at the local senior center, often playing the piano for the residents. Best of all, she was known for her kind and compassionate spirit, and her infectious laugh.
Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, there will be no funeral services at this time. A private family service and burial of ashes will be held in Manila at a much later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers and support they received during this difficult time.
