Mrs. Nancy Andrews (Cochran) Smith, age 96, passed away in the early morning hours of August
3rd, 2026, at Southwest Christian Care. Mrs. Smith grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, the
daughter of the late Wiley Andrews and the late Ina Andrews, formerly Ina Williams, with five
brothers and two sisters.
In her early years, she met David Cochran at her job, whom she would go on to marry. The
couple spent many years together, moving first from North Carolina to Atlanta in 1957, then to
Decatur in 1967, then finally settling in Milner in 1976. Along the way, the pair had three children
and a lifetime of joy, laughter, and memories made. Unfortunately, after 40 long years of
commitment, she was widowed in the year 1997 after David’s untimely passing.
She stayed in Milner for some time before moving again to Lawrenceville in the year 2000. There,
she became a member of the Lawrenceville First Baptist Church where she would meet Mr. John
(JP) Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were married in 2004 and enjoyed 7 years together before his
passing in 2011. Finally, in 2017, Mrs. Smith made the move to Peachtree City and settled there
during the winter of her life.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Smith was an avid church-goer and a devout Christian. She was a
member of Milner Baptist from the late 70s until 2000. Then, she became a member at the
aforementioned Lawrenceville First Baptist. Finally, after her move to Peachtree City, she
attended New Hope South in Fayette County. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her
many grandchildren, and playing cards during her later years at Somerby Independent Living.
Those who remember her describe her as having dedicated her life to her family and friends. She
was pure sunshine and joy to everyone she met. She is described best by Proverbs 31 verses
10-31. Verses 28-31 read as follows:
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do
noble things, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman
who fears the lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works
bring her praise at the City Gate.”
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her five brothers; her two sisters; her first
husband, David K. Cochran; and her second husband, John P. Smith.
She is survived by her son and his wife, David and Sherri Cochran of Alpharetta, GA; her eldest
daughter and her husband, Connie and Jim Eubanks of Fayetteville, GA; and her youngest
daughter, Shelley Thompson of Newnan, GA; as well as her 10 grandchildren and 11 great
grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Southwest Christian
Care at SWChristiancare.org.
A private interment will be held in Milner, Georgia as per her wishes.

Nancy was always such a joy. We didn’t get a chance to spend as much time as we would have liked with her. However, when we had the privilege of being with Aunt Nancy, the time was always such a blessing. Her Christian witness always shined through and she was a living example of counting all things as blessings. Our visits as a family with Dave and Nancy, David, Connie, and Shelley were a highlight of our visits back to the US. Not as many happy childhood memories as I would have liked, but the ones we had were memorable and were all happy.
Aunt Nancy, you’ve moved from one home where you’ll be missed to the one you were preparing for during your whole life. We will join you when we are called. Thank you for living and loving fully.

Nancy was a bright and cherished presence whose friendship left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to know her. For several years she was a big part of life at Somerby, where a chance meeting quickly blossomed into one of the closest and most treasured friendships.
A devoted Christian of sincere faith, Nancy brought warmth, kindness, and genuine sweetness to every interaction. She was funny and quick with a joke, making ordinary moments brighter through shared laughter. She loved playing cards, traveling, and any good game—always competitive, always fully engaged, and always a joy to be around. Her beauty shone both outwardly and in the sincerity of her heart.
When the time came to leave Somerby, parting was especially hard because of the deep bond we shared. Yet every conversation ended the same way: with mutual expressions of love and the comforting promise that we would one day meet again in heaven.
Nancy’s spirit of friendship, faith, humor, and quiet strength will be remembered with gratitude and love. She leaves behind the gift of happy memories and the assurance of reunion in God’s presence.

Andrews family. Our fondest memory is the beach trips when uncle Bill and family would come back from Chile and the entire extended family would rent cottages and spend a week together. Hold on to all your memories if your Mom. A great lady indeed.
