Perry Eugene Farnsworth, age 75, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2024.
Perry was born on April 10, 1948, in Santa Monica, California to Robert & Leone Farnsworth. After attending the University of Mississippi, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was on active duty from 1968-1974. He was an E-5 Electronics Technician (ETR2) aboard the USS Leahy DLG-16. The USS Leahy was an innovative guided missile frigate based out of Norfolk, Virginia that led the Atlantic Fleet destroyers all throughout the Atlantic Ocean and into the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. After 6 years of service, on August 21, 1974, Perry was honorably discharged from the US Navy.
After Perry’s naval career, he continued his passion of electronic communications as a civilian. In 1975 he began working for Scientific Atlanta which was bought out several times over his 35-year tenure. His career had him work on multiple US Government projects as well as in international sales, sending him to all four corners of the globe, before retiring in 2007 from Andrew Corporation.
In 1972, Perry met Teresa Rice in Danville, Virginia on a blind date that was set up by close friends. After dating for a couple years, Perry decided Teresa was the one. A few months later on August 3, 1974, at Fort Belvoir, Virginia they became husband and wife. Over the next decade their journey took them across the United States from California to Texas, where their sons Andrew and Grant were born, and then to Georgia where Perry spent the remainder of his life. He was a devoted husband and father.
Perry, with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, often spent his time researching topics of interest. This appetite for learning would help guide him through fatherhood where he would learn and take an interest in the hobbies and careers his sons would choose. In his down time, he enjoyed watching all types of sports from sailboat racing to soccer matches or you could find him reading books based on historical events.
He was preceded in death by his mother Leone Templeton Farnsworth Dingman, father Robert Stephens Farnsworth, and brothers Bruce C. Farnsworth and Blake T. Farnsworth.
Survived by his wife Teresa Rice Farnsworth and two sons, Andrew T. Farnsworth and Grant H. Farnsworth.
“Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.”

I am deeply saddened by this news and pray for the Grace of God to provide peace and comfort to Teresa, Grant, and Andrew.
I met Perry in the mid 1980s in Richardson Texas when I was working for a competitor of Scientific-Atlanta (S-A); Perry and I called on the same customers selling similar Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment. Although competitors, we developed a mutual respect and friendship which eventually resulted in recruiting me to join S-A. Our wives soon became friends, as did our children. Some years later, S-A relocated me to their HQs in Georgia, and we settled in Lawrenceville. Our business division at S-A was being sold off, Perry transferred to another division, and I went to another company. Some years later, Perry, Teresa, and the boys also moved to Lawrenceville where we rekindled our family friendship. From hunting trips to family BBQs – we enjoyed our time together.
Perry was a true friend in every respect; he improved every situation he encountered and left this world a better place!

Very sad news indeed.
I met Perry in 1980 when I came to work for Scientific- Atlanta. Perry was working for Harvey Sauter in the Texas sales office selling Antenna Instrumentation. He was always a delightful, optimistic, hard working, fun loving co- worker and will be terribly missed.
