Rebecca Michelle Bowers, known to just about everyone as Becky, passed away on August 19, 2026, after facing cancer with the same quiet strength she brought to everything in life. She was 67 years old.

Becky was born on February 7, 1959, in Warm Springs, Georgia. From early on, she was the kind of person who noticed when someone was struggling and stepped in before they even had to ask. That was just who she was. Everyone who knew her knew about her heart, and she never made a fuss about it. Helping someone in need was as natural to her as breathing.

The great love of her life was her husband, Ronnie Bowers, to whom she was married for 47 wonderful years. Together they built a family that meant everything to her. Ronnie passed before her, and there is comfort in knowing they will soon be together again.

More than anything, Becky was proud of her family. They were her joy, her purpose, and the thing she talked about most. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by the people she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Patty Bowers, and her grandson, Xavier Bowers, both of whom carry her love forward. She is also survived by two lifelong best friends of 60 years, Kathy Copes and Annette Stewart, whose company and companionship she cherished every day of their friendship. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronnie Bowers, her parents Alfred and Bessie Buckner, and her brother, David Buckner.

A woman of Christian faith, Becky trusted in God’s promise that those who leave us are never truly gone. She now rests in His care, reunited with Ronnie, her worries behind her.

A celebration of life dinner will be held at 3 pm on September 12 at Ruth Ann’s Restaurant in Columbus, Georgia. Family and friends are warmly invited to come share a meal and the many stories Becky left behind. A scattering of ashes ceremony will take place at a later time in November, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.

If you knew Becky, you would be lucky. Honor her memory the way she would have wanted, by checking in on a neighbor, lending a hand, and loving your family a little louder.
