Robert Allison Barton, 87, of Doraville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bobby Barton will be held 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Peachtree Corners ARP (Presbyterian) Church  5918 Spalding Drive, Norcross, GA 30092 (770)263-7005 www.pcarpchurch.org. Family will receive friends in the Reception Hall one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peachtree Corners ARP Church.

Life Story

Robert “Bobby” Allison Barton was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 5, 1931, the youngest of Everett and Elma Barton’s three children. His life was devoted to God, family and airplanes. After serving in the Air Force, Bob graduated from Georgia Tech (BSAE ’56) and spent most of his career in Aeronautical Engineering and Operations Research with Lockheed Corporation. As a boy, he was an enthusiastic builder and flyer of model airplanes. As an adult, his passion for airplanes culminated in his building and flying his own airplane. Bob was a devoted family man, a faithful member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, and a long time member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Family

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Elma; sisters, Shirley Clark and Merrilyn; and son, Larry. He is survived by his wife, Rita; and children Lynn Rivera and Matt.
