Stephen Henry Pritchard

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Stephen Henry Pritchard of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 73 after a long and courageous battle with many interrelated health issues.  As a lung transplant recipient, Steve was grateful for the additional years the transplant gave him, though he continued to face many health challenges due to his weakened immune system. Even through those challenges, he carried himself with the same warmth, humor, and positive spirit that defined him throughout his life.

Steve was born on October 30, 1952, in Laurel, Mississippi. He spent most of his childhood and young adult years in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was raised by his loving parents alongside his six brothers and sisters. He graduated from De La Salle High School and later attended the University of New Orleans.

Steve moved to the Atlanta area in 1975, where he and his brother Frank co-founded Pritchard Brothers, Inc., a home construction company. During that time, Steve served two terms as President of the Cobb County Chapter of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and continued his education at Southern Polytechnic University.

It was also in the Atlanta area that Steve met his beloved wife, Cathy Del Rio, in 1984, and they married in December of 1985. They built a life centered around family, love, and shared memories. They were both certified SCUBA divers and enjoyed playing tennis together. Steve was also an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling, watching football, and playing chess with his daughter Nicole and other members of his family.

Steve is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughters, Erin Pritchard Dennis and Nicole Elizabeth Pritchard; his cherished grandchildren, Aubrey and Everett Dennis; and his siblings, Frank, Barbara (Laumann), Carol (Gannuch), Paul, David, and Janet (Burgess), as well as many extended family members. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Eustace Henry Pritchard and Irma Turcan Pritchard.

Those who knew Steve will remember him as a genuinely kind and fun-loving man with a huge heart.  He had the unique ability to connect with others and make friends wherever he went.  His warmth, humor, and easygoing nature brought comfort, laughter, and happiness to all who crossed his path. He will be dearly missed by all.

Steve was a genuinely good man. Kind, friendly and thoughtful. As neighbors for many years I have fond memories of playing ALTA and USTA tennis with Steve and all the neighborhood get togethers. He was such a pleasure to be with. My thoughts and prayers are with Cathy and the extended family during this time. Rest in peace.

Steve always had a great smile on his face and had a way of lighting up the room that those who knew him always felt. He was a super guy and will be sorely missed.

Whether hundreds of miles apart or in the same room, my dad was always there for me to offer a listening ear, a fresh perspective, or give me his unwavering advice. He was direct yet kind. Even when it wasn’t what I wanted to hear, I knew it came from his heart. And oh, could he make anyone laugh. He was funny without any effort. From the things he did to the things he didn’t do.
Living just a few doors down from him for the past five years has been the biggest blessing as I’ve had the privilege of sharing so many special moments with my two children and whom they called “Gramps”. Witnessing the bond they created and their shared adoration has been a gift like no other…so many laughs, so many cherished and loving memories in which I’ll carry with me always.
I’m reminded of him so many times a day. Whether it’s just looking out the window, getting the mail, driving past his house, or hearing a knock at my door, my heart breaks over and over knowing I won’t see him outside again, and he won’t be waiting on the other side of the door.
The reality of all of this has been impossible to bear, but I hold on to the comfort that this isn’t the end, and I’ll see him again one day in heaven. Until then, rest peacefully, Dad. I miss and love you with all my being!!!

    Jannis Vann, Family And Associates

I was fortunate to be a part of Prichard Brothers, Inc. from 1982 until present, if you add shifting over to Barrett’s company. Steve was a pleasure to work with and we enjoyed creating a portfolio of great homes together. Over time, all of the PBI family became part of my business family, too. He was a kind, funny guy and we all will miss him.
