January 1, 1947– December 19, 2025
Susan Kelly McBride, a devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord, went home to be with her Savior December 19th 2025.
She fought a courageous battle with unwavering faith and hope to back it up. She is now resting in God‘s eternal peace and promise.
Susan was born on January 1, 1947, to the late John Nicholas Kelly and Perlene Kelly. Columbus, Georgia was her lifelong home. Her career in real estate brought her many lifelong friendships, which she cherished deeply. She especially loved working alongside her best friend and sister, Mary Carney. Many Saturdays you could find Susan at yard sales, happily treasure hunting for special finds for her store, The Attic.
She lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, and a heart that overflowed with love and joy. Her life was a testament to kindness, unconditional love, and service. She found her greatest happiness in time spent with people, especially her family. Her home was always a place of warmth, where you were welcomed with open arms of joy.
Susan was a devoted, grandmother and great grandmother, and of all of her titles, her favorite was “Omy”. Her smile always grew a little brighter when she spoke of her grandchildren: Suzannah Thurman (Michael), Gabriel Williams, Josiah McBride, and Tinsley McBride. In 2025, she was blessed with a great granddaughter, Averi Thurman, who brought her immense joy.
She is survived by her beloved children, who were the pride of her life: Whitney McBride of Columbus, Caroline McBride of Columbus, and Thomas McBride (Jaye) of Fayetteville Georgia.
Susan is also survived by her loving siblings: Richard and Mary Carney of Columbus; Charlie and Celeste Kelly of Albany; and Benny and Francis Kelly of Columbus. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law Jane McBride, Jean McBride, and Derrie Cook, as well as many nieces and nephews—— too numerous to name—whom she loved dearly and who loved her just as deeply. In addition to her family she leaves behind many friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, laughter, prayer and friendship.
Susan was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Tommy McBride, and her cherished daughter, Suzannah Wynne McBride, whom she now joyfully rejoins in heaven.
Susan‘s life was a testimony of faith, love, and service. She trusted the Lord, leaned on his promises and lived with grace and compassion. While she will be deeply missed on this earth, her family finds comfort in knowing that heaven is rejoicing at her homecoming and that she is experiencing complete joy in the presence of her dear Savior.
There will be a celebration of life Tuesday December 23rd , 2025 at 11:00 AM at Evangel Church. 5350 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Evangel Church in her memory.
Georgia Cremation – Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family who experience great loss of our precious Susan. It’s a sad time for those left behind, but knowing how ready she was for Heaven brings us all a bit of peace. She was an extraordinary soul like no other. I loved her so much and look forward to when I see her again and spend eternity with our Lord and Savior, all of our love ones and friends, where there is no pain and sadness, but only joy, peace and happiness like we can’t begin to imagine until we get there. Praying for this sweet family, that God wraps His loving arms around each one of you and holds you ever so tightly.
