Tameika Lewis

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Tameika Sharae Lewis, age 47, of Columbus, GA, peacefully entered eternal rest with her Heavenly Father at her home on February 28, 2023.

Tameika was born October 4, 1975, in Gary, IN, to the late Lou Emma (Matthews) Banks and James Lewis Sr. At an early age, her family moved to Kenosha, WI. While in Kenosha, Tameika accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Bethel Temple. Tameika graduated from Tremper High School and later relocated to Milwaukee, WI.

Most of Tameika’s lifetime was spent caring for others in various healthcare roles within nursing homes, clinics, hospitals, and doctor offices. In 2014, Tameika relocated to her final residence of Columbus, GA, where she became a Certified Medical Assistant. In addition to caring for others, one of Tameika’s many talents was styling hair. She took great pride in ensuring her daughters, granddaughters, and nieces had their hair done. Whether it was braids, sew-ins, or quick weaves, Tameika could do it all! Tameika’s smile lit up any room she entered, and she was the life of the party. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Tameika never hesitated to celebrate the accomplishments of others; if she could be there, she was there! She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and encouragement to those around her. Tameika was a BOSS and recently made the ultimate BOSS move when she rededicated her life to Christ.

She was a fighter throughout her battle with cancer and never gave up. She held on to her faith and we are thankful to all those who supported her through her fierce fight.

Tameika will be greatly missed and her memories will be cherished for generations by her father: James Lewis, Sr. of Columbus, GA; five (5) daughters: Galeesha Gary of Columbus, GA; Arianna Fleming of Milwaukee, WI; Shania Davis of Milwaukee, WI; Lushonda Davis of Racine, WI; and Marquea Turner of Racine, WI; two (2) sons: Joseph Riley of Indianapolis, IN; and Andre Davis, Jr of Indianapolis, IN; eight (8) grandchildren: Ja’Leeyah Hill, Ja’Varis Hill, JaNiyah McKelvey, Terrion Thompson Jr, Marquan Bey, Jayvon Clifton, Shayvon Clifton and Jayce Clifton; five (5) sisters: Zola Davis of Kenosha, WI; Glenda (Roger) Townsend of Merrillville, IN; Wilma (Melvin) Pipes of Indianapolis, IN; Janie Lewis of Gary, IN; and Florence Simmons of Gary, IN; two (2) brothers: Willie (Pam) Alford Jr., of Indianapolis, IN; and James (Shalonda) Lewis Jr. of South Bend, IN; two (2) aunts: Mary Williams of Riverside, CA, and Minnie Smith of Indianapolis, IN; one (1) uncle, Howard (Veronica) Hart Jr. of Atlanta, GA; a very special & dear friend, Jason Culpepper and Florine Culpepper of Columbus, GA; a host of nieces and nephews that were always welcomed and loved as her own; and numerous relatives and friends.

Preceding Tameika into eternal rest was her mother, Lou Emma (Matthews) Banks; two (2) sisters: Lynell Davis and Alberta Davis; seven (7) uncles: Sam Matthews; Genie Lewis, Preacher Lewis, John Lee Lewis, L.C. Lewis, J.C. Lewis, and Aaron Lewis; two (2) aunts: Arlena Dent and Cora Cherry; and one (1) nephew: James Lewis III.

A memorial gathering for Ms. Tameika Lewis will be announced at a later date. Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family.
