Born June 2, 1930 in Upland, Indiana;
died December 26, 2017, Newnan, Georgia.
A meticulous planner and builder
of all things – his family, his career,
his home.
A lover of all things that go fast!
…cars, planes, boats!!
Served in the US Air Force
Warren had a long and successful career in manufacturing, rising from sweeping the floor to managing the entire operation of a glass container factory. Later, he managed another factory producing air filtration media.
In 1958, he moved his young family from Indiana to scenic, rural Connecticut, where for ten years, they lived and explored historic New England. In 1968, work took them back to the Hoosier state, and then finally in 1976, to Atlanta, GA. Upon retirement, he and Marlene made their home for the next 23 years in the beautiful and serene surroundings of Rabun Gap, GA where their beloved mountain side home offered vistas for miles.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marlene; children Nancy and Mike, grandchildren Ryan, Natalie, Clinton and Samuel as well as seven great grandchildren. A loving husband, a devoted dad, indulgent grandpa to grandchildren and “pop” to great grandchildren. He taught us all what a family man is, and his shoes are impossible to fill.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Thurman at 11:00 AM on January 6, 2018 at Christ Our Hope Lutheran Church, 2165 Highway 138 SW, Riverdale, GA 30296. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or National Foundation of Cancer Research.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith…

I am so sad to read of Warren‘s passing. I am thinking of Marlene, Nancy, Mike, and your whole family with lots of love. I have many happy memories with your family, as did my mother and daddy! We saw the Sound of Music together in Providence Rhode Island! Warren and I shared the same birthday, June 2. I love when he would send me Vidalia onions. Sending my most sincere condolences to you all.
