She was also a long-time member of Bethel Baptist church in Jonesboro where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In her free time, she loved crafting and cooking, and was well known for her hushpuppies, coleslaw, and squash casserole.
Jean was very vocal about politics and enjoyed sharing her opinions. She spent her last years reading, enjoying time with her family, and loving on her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sister and brothers-in-law: Nancy and Henry Tenney and Bill Kemp. She is survived by her children: Richard Taylor, Jr. (Gwynn) of Gainesville, John Taylor (Cheri) of Marianna, Fl., and Leah Shoemaker of Locust Grove; sisters: Sharon Kemp and Charlotte Townsend (Ronnie); 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Alta Shoemaker says
I always loved Jean she was a fine lady and we never had any kind of disagreement. She made the best squash casserole going and she loved her family. Heaven gained another Angel and she will be missed but she will no longer be suffering. May God take care of her family.
